Building Your Resume

Building Your Resume – Is your resume outdated? Does your resume accurately represent your skills and core competencies? Is the language used in your resume appropriate and attention getting? If not, then it’s time to review your resume and make some improvements.

The Lessons in this component will address those concerns. Building Your Resume will consist of Hands-On Exercises using Microsoft Word to prepare the cover letter, your resume, and a suggested letter of recommendation and timed exercises on Laying the Foundation, including employment history, references; Constructing the Frame, including professional relevant experience, career statement, and highlights of qualifications; and Topping It Off! With your name, phone number, and professional email address. Managing the Interview. Interviewing for a job takes a good amount of self-confidence, panache, and interpersonal communication savvy. The way in which you present yourself during an interview gives hiring managers a first impression of you as a potential staffer and sets the tone for how you would perform in an everyday capacity. Tips needed to understand the interview process with be addressed, including tips for putting your best foot forward, interview subtext, and the hook in action.

Targeted Audience/Advanced Preparation:  Administrative and technical professionals, managers, supervisors and exam test candidates who are interested in updating their resume.
