Course Description:

Reading Skills, accompanied by Glossary of Terms and Business Vocabulary

Reading comprehension is the ability to read text, process it, and understand its meaning.  Reading skills include skills acquired through reading and these skills give participants the ability to turn words on a page into a clear meaning.

In this section, you will concentrate on informational reading. Sharpening your skills in getting the writer's message largely on word recognition and paragraph meaning. These are two critical skills that are fundamental to all understanding. They are the two areas tested in all kinds of reading examinations for school achievement, for college admission, and for job placement.

In line with this effort to comprehend the printed page, one needs to develop skill in understanding both prose and poetry refers to rhythmical and emotional patterns of expression.

To further help you in informational reading skills, study the use of the dictionary, the encyclopedia, and other reference books. An interesting description of each type of book will provide you with enough "get-acquainted" material to direct you to the right library shelves.
